If You Plan To Move
If You Plan To Move
If you're moving out, We're sorry to see you go, but we understand that jobs move, families grow, circumstances change.
If you're moving in, welcome the the Telephone Company Condo Community. Whether you're new owner or a renter, we're glad to have you here and looking forward to welcoming you in person.
Here are some tips about moving.
If you're moving in, please make a check out to the Telephone Company Condo Association in the amount of $400. This is a non-refundable move-in fee owners and renters must pay.
Whether you're an owner or a renter, you need to send your apartment number, name(s), email addresses, and phone number(s) to Leslee.Behar@gmail.com. You will also have to provide her with a copy of your property and liability insurance.
In accordance with the District of Columbia Condominium Act, all unit owners must maintain Liability Insurance of at least $300,000 and Property Damage Insurance of at least $10,000.
Unit owners who are leasing their apartments must maintain a "rental to others" endorsement on their insurance and have a DC Simple Business License on file with the condo's business manager.
Renters must maintain a renter's insurance policy.
Copies of all insurance policies must be filed with the building manager by owners and renters.
If you're moving out, please return your keys to the building manager or to your landlord.
If you anticipate leaving any large items behind, please let the building manager know and we’ll arrange for someone to cart it away at your expense. Simply leaving it in your apartment, the common area, or the garbage room will incur even greater cost.
Whether moving in or out, please be careful not to leave the front or back door of the building propped open during your move, even for just a few minutes.
If you wan to use the elevator during your move, owners should contact the building manager to reserve the elevator’s use for a specific period of time and pay a refundable deposit of $200 for use of the elevator key. If the elevator is damaged, the cost of repair will be deducted from that fee.
Also, whether you're moving in or out, please keep the following in mind:
Nothing that cannot be carried by hand should be moved in the elevator outside the time set aside for your use.
Never wedge the elevator doors open. Use the elevator key.
Owners are responsible for notifying other residents when the elevator will be used for a move, either by email or by putting a sign in the elevator lobby on all four floors.
Parking
If you are moving yourself, you can apply for a reserved parking permit at the online parking portal.
District law requires that residents post signs 72 hours in advance at non-metered spaces. If you hire professional movers, please be sure they secure the necessary permits.
Please don’t park a van or truck in the alley between Constitution Avenue and A Street. It’s a throughway that must be kept clear.
If you park a van or truck by the building’s back door, please leave enough room for cars to turn around in the back alley.
